Curriculum Description

Graduation Requirements (2012-2013 Catalog)
  • A minimum of 120 credits.
  • 36 credits earned in upper-division coursework.
  • Minimum of 32 credits completed in residence at Brandman; 18 of which must be upper -division credits, 12 of which must be completed in students major.
  • A 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale at Brandman and transfer work.
  • A 2.0 grade point average in all major and minor coursework. Programs may have additional grade requirements.
  • Resolution of all "Cl" and "l" grades.
  • LBSU 300 Liberal Arts Core Foundations- (Cannot be used as an elective in a major, minor, or certificate program)
  • LBSU 302 Information Fluency and Academic Integrity (Cannot be used as an elective in a major, minor, or certificate program)

Electives (18 credits; 12 credits must be upper division):

Students may use any PSYU courses that do not duplicate core foundations courses in the list above. SOCU 391 may also be used to satisfy this elective requirement. Students who are transferring credits from an accredited college or university may transfer in a total of 6 lower-division elective credits in psychology excluding personal development or personal adjustment courses.

Description

In the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program, you'll study the essentials of psychological science and thought, integrating your professional goals and objectives with the program's curriculum. Designed around core courses covering history and theories, statistics, research, and physiological psychology, the curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, methods of inquiry, research methodology, psychology processes and the application of psychological principles to diverse areas of human behavior.

Who is this program for?

This program is for students who want to prepare for graduate study in psychology or related disciplines; for graduate study in fields where knowledge of human behavior would be beneficial; for professional careers in psychology; or for baccalaureate-level careers in human services or psychological support settings.

What can you do with a degree in psychology?

Students with psychology degrees have careers in health and human services, management, education, law and sports or pursue graduate studies.

Admission Requirements

​Admission to the program may be achieved by completing the following requirements:
Have at least 12 transferrable baccalaureate-level credits (or the equivalent) from an accredited college or university.
Have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA in all prior college-level coursework.
How to Apply
Complete and submit an Application for Undergraduate Admission.
Provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Only credit from regionally accredited institutions will be accepted for transfers. International applicants or domestic applicants with transcripts from international institutions must also submit foreign transcripts. PLEASE DO NOT FAX TRANSCRIPTS OR TEST SCORES.
