Specific Requirements (2012-13 catalog)

The human resources program consists of three segments. The first segment is the 24-credit core; the second segment is the 9 credit elective area; and the third segment is the capstone course, HRCU 650, 3 credits.

Description

The Master of Science in Human Resources program is designed to provide you with the specialized skills and knowledge to effectively address cultural, regulatory, behavioral and social changes in today's diverse society. The program focuses on theoretical and practical applications of human resources, and examines the role of the human resources practitioner as a change agent and strategic partner.

Through an interdisciplinary course of study, you’ll be exposed to contemporary HR issues, plus insights from the leadership, management, industrial/organizational psychology and behavioral science disciplines. You will learn the fundamentals of HR that you can apply immediately in your workplace, including strategic management, staffing, training and development, compensation, conflict and negotiation, employee benefits and legal issues.

This program is perfect for experienced HR professionals who want to advance within their organization, business owners who need to lead their organization’s human resources function or working professionals planning to transition into the field.

 

What can you do with a degree in human resources?

Students with a degree in human resources go on to work as HR professionals in the public, private, military and non-profit sectors, partnering with top management in policy-making and strategic decision-making. Students have also gone on to work as consultants and develop their own businesses.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the program may be achieved by completing the following requirements:
Satisfactorily fulfill graduate admissions requirements for Brandman University.
If using Option Two in the graduate admissions requirements, submit passing scores from one of the following standard admissions tests:
Graduate Record Examination (GRE): achieve the required minimum scores on two out of three of the subsections of the GRE. (Minimum score for quantitative: 141, minimum score for Verbal: 150, minimum score for Analytic Writing: 4.5)
Miller Analogies Test (MAT): achieve a minimum scaled score of 400.
Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT): fulfill the formula GMAT + (GPA x 200) > 1000
If using Option Four in the graduate admissions requirements, submit a portfolio of evidence that shows adequate preparation for graduate studies.How to Apply
Complete and submit an Application for Graduate Admission
Provide official transcripts from the regionally accredited Baccalaureate degree granting institution and transcripts from all institution where post-baccalaureate coursework was completed or attempted.  Only credit from regionally accredited institutions will be accepted for transfers.International applicants or domestic applicants with transcripts from international institutions must also submit foreign transcripts.PLEASE DO NOT FAX TRANSCRIPTS OR TEST SCORES.
