*EDUU 600 is a prerequisite for all other core courses and candidates are advised to follow this structure.

Emphasis Courses (12 credits)

Students will customize and strengthen their program of study to meet their individual career goals by choosing twelve credits from 500 or 600-level EDAU, EDCI, or EDUU courses (excluding EDAU-691).  However, three of the twelve credits may be taken in one of the following related disciplines, human resources, public administration, organizational leadership, or business administration. Courses completed as part of a general or special education credential program shall not be accepted as fulfilling the 12 credit emphasis area.

Demonstration of Mastery

A candidate for the MAE in Educational Leadership must successfully complete a portfolio that reflects mastery of course content. Candidates may submit the portfolio during the last remaining course or at the conclusion of their program of study.

Description

The Master of Arts in Education, Educational Leadership program helps develop and enhance your dynamic, high-performing leadership skills for the renewal and improvement of schools and school systems. The curriculum focuses on leadership models, supervision of personnel, implementation of policy, and the legal and social issues that affect the school system.

Designed for students looking to be principals or educational administrators, this program will create effective leaders for today’s educational settings.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the program may be achieved by completing the following requirements:
Satisfactorily fulfill graduate admissions requirements for Brandman University.
If using Option Two in the admissions requirements, have a grade point average between 2.75 and 2.99 in the last 30 graded semester credits (45 quarter units) in either a baccalaureate or post baccalaureate program including credits earned toward a credential and submit passing scores from one of the following standard admissions tests:
Graduate Record Examination (GRE): any two of the three GRE scores (Verbal, Quantitative or Analytical Writing) may be used to meet graduate admissions standards for the MAE. The minimum acceptable scores for the Quantitative section is 141, for the Verbal is 150 and the minimum score for the Analytic Writing section is 4.5.
Miller Analogies Test (MAT): achieve a minimum scaled score of 403.
State Teacher Examinations: successfully complete the appropriate California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET), or Single Subject Assessments for Teaching (SSAT) and/or Praxis Examination.
Candidates who have successfully completed any of Brandman University's Preliminary Credential programs and have passed the CSET, MSAT, SSAT or PRAXIS examination automatically qualify for admission to MAE program.
Submit two letters of recommendation and recommendation waivers from individuals who are familiar with the applicant's academic/professional ability to undertake graduate study.
Submit a letter of intent indicating the purpose in acquiring this degree and potential career goals.
Provide a letter of completion on institution letterhead and/or from registrar's office if you are currently completing a baccalaureate degree from an institution other than Brandman University.

Provide official transcripts from the regionally accredited Baccalaureate degree granting institution and transcripts from all institution where post-baccalaureate coursework was completed or attempted.Only credit from regionally accredited institutions will be accepted for transfers.International applicants or domestic applicants with transcripts from international institutions must also submit foreign transcripts.PLEASE DO NOT FAX TRANSCRIPTS OR TEST SCORES.
