Description

We are now accepting applications!

Coming in Fall 2012, Brandman University will be launching a Master of Healthcare Innovation (MHI). The MHI program serves the needs of working professionals with a hybrid format of online instruction and face-to-face support.

Why a Master's Degree in Healthcare Innovation at Brandman?

It is widely recognized that innovation is essential to significant change in our healthcare system. There is a need to foster compelling new ideas to deliver better health and improved care at lower costs, particularly to those with the greatest health care needs.

Our approach to preparing students for this changing system is to offer a degree program with a modern, pioneering curriculum designed to develop the skills and competencies for both managing and creating change.

Cohorts

Students will be admitted twice a year: Fall 1 and Spring 1. Each entering group will be a cohort that takes classes together throughout the program.

Immersions

Two times during two years of coursework all MHI students will meet at Brandman's Irvine, CA campus for extensive relationship-building with faculty and students program-wide, capstone project seminars, and in-depth engagement in learning.

Emphasis Areas

Understanding health administration and effective health communication are components of innovation. Students can tailor a program that reflects where they are in their career and where they want to go. They can choose individualized electives from various disciplines within Brandman. Or, instead of individualized electives, MHI students may complete a three-course emphasis in the following areas:

  • Health Administration
  • Health Communication
Healthcare Innovation Project

To integrate theories of healthcare innovation with the application of this knowledge, each student will design, implement, and assess an independent innovation project that makes a significant contribution to the field of healthcare innovation.

Who is this program for?

The MHI degree is appropriate for individuals who are working in the healthcare industry or health-related fields and for those who are considering career changes. While the emphasis of the program is on developing leaders who can understand and manage innovation in a variety of healthcare settings, graduates may also secure positions in related areas such as consulting, digital and print publishing, product development, education, and government.
