Kathy Theuer, Ed.D.

Biography
Dr. Kathy Theuer is an Associate Dean for the School of Education and oversees the multiple and single subject credential programs, the Master of Arts in teaching programs, and early childhood education programs. She has also served as the Director of Accreditation, leading the School of Education through successful California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) accreditation efforts.
Dr. Theuer is actively involved in teacher preparation in California. She serves on the California State Leadership Team, Center on Collaboration for Effective Educator Development, Accountability and Reform (CEEDAR), is a member of the Board of Institutional Reviewers for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). She represents the School of Education as a delegate to the California Council on Teacher Educators (CCTE). During her sixteen years with Chapman/Brandman University she has developed and taught numerous online and blended credential and master’s courses and designed an innovative internship program for credential candidates. In 2011 she received the Excellence in Teaching Award for the School of Education.
Dr. Theuer has over thirty-four years of experience in education at the school, district, county and university levels. She has served as an elementary school teacher, county director for math/science projects, beginning teacher support coordinator and national consultant on integrated thematic instruction. Her research interests focus on curriculum design, blended and online pedagogy and teacher leadership.
