BA, Sociology

Sociology is the study of human social behavior. As social beings, we must find ways to deal with others and make sense of the world that we create. Sociology studies humanity’s diverse ways of interacting, and attempts to understand the institutions and social systems we build and how society organizes itself.

The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology program provides the foundation for studying groups and the influence groups have on society and individuals.

  • Deviant behavior

Who is this program for?

Sociology is a valuable liberal arts major for students planning careers in social work, education, urban planning, public health, criminal justice and other fields where an understanding and knowledge of social institutions, social interaction and a range of research techniques are needed.

What can you do with a degree in sociology?

Students with a degree in sociology take on entry-level positions in journalism, politics, public relations, business, law, education, social work, counseling or public administration. The sociology degree also prepares students to enter graduate study programs.
