Transfer of Coursework

Up to 12 credits may be transferred into the Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education Programs. Requests for transfer are submitted on a Request to Transfer Coursework form. Requests must meet transfer policies specified in the Graduate Academic Policies and Procedures section and must be approved by the Associate Dean of the School of Education.

Note: traditional candidates will take a minimum of two sessions of student teaching and may choose to take 3 credits in Special Education and 6 credits in Multiple Subject or 6 credits in Special Education and 3 credits in Multiple Subject. Candidates with internship credentials must take 6 credits in the field in which they are credentialed and 3 credits in the other field. Candidates who are seeking both a Mild/Moderate and a Moderate/Severe credential will need to add an additional 6 credits (one session) of fieldwork. All candidates may only waive 3 credits of fieldwork/student teaching.

In the event that a candidate has a portion of his/her student teaching waived, those credits are not required to be replaced in the degree.

* A waiver of the technology requirement may be granted upon successful completion of the CSET Educational Technology Exam, documentation of completion of regular education computers in education coursework from an accredited college or university, or submission of an electronic portfolio (under certain conditions).

** Subject matter competency must be met prior to enrollment in the required fieldwork component for the credential.
