Step 1
If a student has a disability, he or she should inquire about disability services with his or her Academic Advisor. The Office of Disability Services approves and coordinates accommodations to help students with disabilities achieve academic and personal success.
Step 2
The Academic Advisor and student should decide if the student would like to submit documentation to The Office of Disability Services in order to determine if he or she meets the criteria for disability services and accommodations according to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA)/Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment Act of 2008 (ADAA). Registration with The Office of Disability Services is on a voluntary, self-identifying basis.
Step 3
The Academic Advisor directs the student to the website for The Office of Disability Services so he or she can review the Disability Documentation
Guidelines.
Step 4
The student submits the Student Data Sheet to The Office of Disability Services (
loconnor@brandman.edu) along with current clinical documentation of the disability from a psychologist, physician, or other appropriate professional. All documentation and information is considered confidential.
Step 5
The Office of Disability Services reviews the submitted documentation and contacts the student to discuss his or her requests.
Step 6
If the student is accepted and registered with The Office of Disability Services, an Accommodations Notification Letter will be sent to the student, Academic Advisor, Campus Director and the Manager of Virtual Learning Administration. Only accommodations will be stated in the letter; the specific disability will not be disclosed. During the student's career at Brandman University, the faculty will automatically be provided with the Accommodations Notification Letter two weeks prior to the beginning of each session.
