<div><b>Page Content:</b> <p>​Students desiring and requesting academic support services for disabilities are required to submit appropriate documentation to verify eligibility under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. All assessment reports, medical information and other related documentation will be kept confidential at The Office of Disability Services in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), as well as in accordance with the professional and ethical standards of the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD). The following guidelines are provided to insure that documentation is sufficient and appropriate to verify eligibility for disability services.</p>
<p>Documentation on file may consist of the following:</p>
<ol><li>Statement of the student's present level of functioning and how his or her life functioning is impaired</li>
<li>Veterans Affairs documentation</li>
<li>A complete educational, psychological, developmental, and/or medical report indicating disabilities</li>
<li>Describe the specific accommodations requested and detailed explanation of why each accommodation is recommended.</li></ol>

      <title>Office of Disability Services - Accessible Education</title>

      <description><![CDATA[<div><b>Page Content:</b> <p>Brandman University is committed to providing support services to achieve equal access to the education experience. The Office of Disability Services approves and coordinates accommodations and services for students with disabilities in order to acquire skills essential to achieve academic and personal success. </p>
<p>Registration with The Office of Disability Services is on a voluntary, self-identifying basis. However, services are only available after a student has registered and presents certified current documentation of the specific disability from a psychologist, physician, or other appropriate professional. All information and documentation are strictly confidential.</p>
<h2 class="ms-rteElement-H2" style="text-align:center">Mission Statement</h2>
<p>The Office of Disability Services at Brandman University is committed to ensuring equal educational access and opportunity for all members of our academic community. The Office strives to maximize each student's educational potential by helping to develop self-advocacy, responsibility, and independence, and to promote personal growth. Students will be provided timely, efficient, and equitable accommodations and service that are in compliance with Section 504 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA)/Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment Act of 2008 (ADAA). The Office works individually with each student to develop the most effective and comprehensive accommodation plan possible. In addition to providing direct service to our students, The Office of Disability Services also acts as a liaison between students, administrators, faculty, and other staff members to ensure the facilitation of accommodation plans that are reasonable and appropriate.</p></div>
