This course discusses and demonstrates the fundamentals of Security Alarm technology and configuration of cameras and intercoms. This course will introduce the principles and operation of common alarm and access systems. These concepts are reinforced with a variety of hand-on labs. This course helps prepare the student for ETA Telecommunication Electronics Technician (CAST) exam.
This course was designed for contractors, union craftsman, electricians, technicians, installers, LAN managers/administrators, end-users, engineers, MIS managers, facilities managers, architects and developers, systems engineers, telecom managers and anyone involved in repairing, installing, maintaining, designing, evaluating, or provisioning personal computers, networks, and related technology. This course is 16 hours, equivalent to 1.6 CEUs.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to identify, describe, explain, and/or perform:
- Operation of common alarm and access systems
- Methods of preventing system-defeating schemes
- System upgrading and optimization
- Switching devices, audio and infrared motion detectors
- Proper installation and connection of CCTV equipment

This course instructs the student in applied Security Alarm technology. This course will discuss and demonstrate security alarm cabling and connectors, interfacing, locks, block diagrams and schematics. These concepts are reinforced with a variety of hands-on labs. This course helps prepare the student for ETA Telecommunications Electronics Technician (CAST) exam.
Prerequisites: Security Alarm Technician Applied or equal industry experience.
