What is Brandman's accreditation?
Brandman is accredited by, and is a member of, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Its teacher training and credential programs are approved by the California State Department of Education.
What kind of credit does Brandman University Extended Education provide?
Upon successful completion, the participant will receive graduate-level professional development credit. It is the same as professional development credit. Each credit is a semester credit. These are professional development units that are typically not part of a degree program but instead are primarily used for professional advancement purposes such as salary increment steps and recertification. However, this credit may be applied toward a degree program at the discretion of the accepting institution.
How many hours does one credit represent?
Each credit represents 15 hours of work.
Will my district or state accept Brandman University Credit?
It is the responsibility of the individual participant to verify with his/her district or state prior to enrollment whether Brandman credit will be acceptable or not. State licensing departments vary regarding their criteria for credit acceptance, and some states may not accept credit from universities that are located outside the state.
Is it possible to earn an undergraduate credit in place of graduate credit?
All courses listed with a 9000 level number are graduate-level professional development credit courses, and all courses listed with an 8000 level number are undergraduate courses. They are not interchangeable.
Is a graduate-level professional development credit accepted in a Brandman University degree program and will it transfer to a degree program (Masters) at another university?
The graduate credits that we offer are not part of any degree program at Brandman University. However, decisions about transfering to another university are solely at the discretion of that university. Students are advised to seek approval of appropriate officials before enrolling in these courses, to satisfy any degree, state credential or local school district requirements.
Can I register online?
No, but you may print out a registration form and fax or mail your registration.

How do I complete my project in light of the requirements for evaluating student learning, my own self-evaluation and the need to include documentation?
All components of the course requirements must be addressed. If you do not have access to students to practice your activities with, you may approach your paper in the following way:
- Explain your situation on the title page and write your paper as though you are planning to implement the activities/strategies in the future.
- Describe the methods you intend to use for evaluating your students' learning experience.
- For self-evaluation, comment on your strengths and weaknesses as pertaining to the implementation of the activities.
- Discuss what you expect to happen in terms of your own abilities.
- Documentation could include handouts, an example of the activity, charts for evaluation, lesson plans, etc.
How soon will I receive a grade?
The usual turnaround time is approximately 4 weeks after coursework is received (in the case of independent studies, learning circles and seminar practicums) or after an online course is completed.
When will I know that my grade is posted?
You will receive a complimentary grade report when your grade is posted into our system. The grade report will be mailed within a few days of posting. However, we are not able to provide additional grade reports beyond the original complimentary report. If you need another copy of your grade you will need to order a transcript. May I register using a purchase order?
Yes, but the P/O must accompany the registration form. Payment must be received within 30 days of being invoiced. Student's will not be registered until payment is received.
What is the refund policy?

How may I get a receipt for reimbursement?
Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation letter for seminar courses and an email confirmation for online and CD-ROM courses showing the Brandman University Course and fees paid. This is the only receipt issued for the course.
Will my financial aid apply for these courses?
Students are not eligible to receive financial aid for professional development courses.
What are the deadlines?
Registration and payment must be received within 30 days from the date of the seminar, course, etc. Enrollment is ongoing for all courses (except EDUC 9279, EDUC 9280, EDUC 9281, and EDUC 9282). That is, you may begin the course at any time. However, you must complete the course within the designated time period stated below.
Online Courses:
With the exception of EDUC 9279, EDUC 9280, EDUC 9281, and EDUC 9282 which are ten week courses, we allow up to fifteen weeks. However, you may complete the coursework sooner.Independent Study and Learning Circle Courses:
Coursework is due three months from the date of registration.Seminar Follow-Up Practicum Courses:
The final report is due (postmarked) six months from the date of the seminar. There is no longer the option of requesting a time extension.
Can I take more than one course at a time?
Yes.

You may substitute the word "book-talks" for activities.
How can I complete my assignment when the seminar topic dealt with strategies rather than activities?
You may substitute the word "strategies" for activities.

What is the equivalent of one semester credit in quarter credits?
One semester credit equals 1.33 quarter credits.
One quarter credit equals 0.7 (2/3) semester credit.
Two quarter credits equal 1.3 semester credits.
Three quarter credits equal 2 semester credits.
