As a full-time faculty member in Brandman University’s School of Education, Dr. Cole teaches and oversees the graduate degree and credential courses for the school psychology and counseling programs at the Walnut Creek campus as well as supervising the training of school psychology and school counseling interns.  He began as a full-time faculty member with Chapman University’s School of Education in 1998.  His professional background includes being a Licensed Educational Psychologist in California where he had a part-time practice for over 20 years.  Also, Dr. Cole served for 35 years as a teacher, school psychologist, and the department head of psychology services in a large urban school district.  He obtained the Nationally Certified School Psychologist/NCSP certificate through the National Association of School Psychologists.  He has served as an Oral Commissioner for the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.  In addition, Dr. Cole earned a certificate in addiction studies/counseling from JFK University, a trainer certificate in suicide prevention and intervention from the California Department of Mental Health, and certification as an Irlen diagnostician/trainer from the Irlen Institute.  He was awarded the Service Key from Phi Delta Kappa International, the Distinguished Educator of the Year Award by PDK’s UC Berkeley Chapter, and the Outstanding Academic Service to Students Demonstrated through Excellence in Teaching and Advising by the university.  He holds life credentials in school psychology, school counseling, and secondary teaching.  Dr. Cole is a graduate of the University of San Francisco and Nova Southeastern University.
