Bio

Dr. Marv Abrams serves Brandman University as full-time faculty at the Ontario Campus.  He is also the State Chair for Education Clinical Services, over-seeing the clinical programs at 17 campuses.  Additionally, he serves on the School of Education Leadership Team, and on the MA/ELA curriculum team.  A native of San Diego, CA., he majored in political science at San Diego State University, concentrating on international relations.  As a staff member on the campus newspaper, The Daily Aztec, he was the football writer and assistant sports editor, also writing general news and features.  Upon graduation he entered the graduate program in political science, focusing on political behavior.  After completing his MA, he served two years active duty in the US Navy.

His professional experience includes 34 years of public school teaching and administration.  He began as a journalism teacher and later served as the Director of Student Activities, social science department chair, district faculty mentor in economics, and as a teacher within the highly rigorous International Baccalaureate Programme (IB).   In his 18th year as a classroom teacher, Dr. Abrams entered the doctoral at Northern Arizona University, during which time he was recruited as an assistant principal within the Fullerton Joint Union High School District.  He created a Specialized Secondary Program, one of only 11 funded by the State of California that year.  He was shortly brought to the Rowland Unified School District as the principal of a low-performing high school where he introduced the IB Programme, leading to a significant change in the culture of that school.  Later, he moved to the Saddleback Unified School District, again as a high school principal, leaving for a district-level position with the Fontana Unified School District.  He completed his 34-year career in public education with the Southern California Regional Occupation Center.  Dr. Abrams lives in Orange County with his wife, Ann, and his dog, Chelsea.   The couple has two adult children.  All are active supporters of the San Diego Padres and Chargers.
