Dr. Kalis is an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner who specializes in intensive care, cardiology, congenital heart disease and cardiac electrophysiology. She received her BSN degree in Nursing from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Her MSN in Nursing with a dual concentration as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist is from University of California at Los Angeles. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Nursing Practice Degree (DNP) from Touro University in Nevada. She is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Adult-Geriatric Acute Care DNP program which is a BSN to DNP program in the Marybelle and S. Paul Musco School of Nursing and Health Professions. She teaches in the RN-BSN program, BSN-DNP program and the post Masters to DNP program and also mentors DNP students. In addition to teaching, she also continues to work as an acute care nurse practitioner in a private cardiology group, caring for both cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology patients. Her research interests include cardiac and pulmonary disorders, moving evidence into practice, remote technology practices for health care, and using technology and high fidelity in nursing education.
