Chapman University College Appoints John Slatinsky as Director of its San Diego Campus

 

San Diego, Calif. − December 1, 2008 − Chapman University College, a nonprofit higher education institution that provides adult learners with access to a quality education with convenient sessions and campuses consistent with the needs of their busy lives, has named John Slatinsky director of its San Diego campus.

“We are fortunate to have someone with John’s knowledge and experience managing the Chapman University College San Diego campus and educational programs,” said Gary Brahm, chancellor of Chapman University College. “His prior teaching and administrative experience will be a great asset to Chapman University College and the faculty and students in San Diego.”

As director of the San Diego campus, Slatinsky oversees 107 faculty members and more than 425 students. He is also responsible for the recruitment and outreach to students, advertising and marketing, hiring and retention of staff as well as the overall
expansion and development of the campus.

“My vision for the campus is to increase the number of educational opportunities for adult learners in San Diego and its surrounding communities,” said Slatinsky. “The current economy is driving aspiring students and adults in the workforce to look for ways to increase their earning potential and job security. Serving as director of the San Diego campus is an exciting opportunity to help these students reach their career goals by further developing the quality degree programs Chapman University College provides.”

Slatinsky brings more than 35 years of education experience to Chapman University College, including teaching at the university and high school level, serving as an adult and vocational education administrative coordinator and as an assistant principal and
principal at multiple Southern California high schools. He has also overseen large site level budgets, strategic planning, labor negotiations, admissions and records supervision, counseling and curriculum development.

Slatinsky holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in industrial technology from San Diego State University. He received his doctorate in education with an emphasis in law and finance from Northern Arizona University. Chapman University College’s San Diego campus offers eight bachelor’s degrees, eight master’s degrees, an associate’s degree, three certificate programs and 12 credential programs in the areas of criminal justice, early childhood development, liberal studies and organizational leadership.
