AMVETS Legal Clinic Services

AMVETS Legal Clinic services offers free legal assistance to veterans, service members and their families. This free legal service includes a variety of support programs. The clinic staff is available to familiarize veterans and military members with their rights under federal law.

AU-ABC

Air University Associate-to-Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC) Program is an initiative between Air University and civilian institutions of higher learning to offer baccalaureate degree opportunities to every Air Force enlisted member.  AU-ABC points Airmen with completed associate degrees from the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to a set of accredited “Air Force friendly” colleges and universities.

To participate in the AU-ABC program, registrants must be active duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve or Air National Guard. However, degree requirements can be completed after a member retires or separates from the service.

General Education Mobile (GEM)

Brandman University and the Air Force are working together to offer a five-course GEM sequence of general education classes that transfer directly into an AA degree program at CCAF.

GI Bill

The term GI Bill refers to any Department of Veterans Affairs education benefit earned by members of Active Duty, Selected Reserve and National Guard Armed Forces and their families.  The benefit is designed to help servicemembers and eligible veterans cover the costs associated with getting an education or training.  The GI Bill has several programs and each is administrated differently, depending on a person's eligibility and duty status.

 
GoArmyEd

GoArmyEd is the virtual gateway to request Tuition Assistance (TA) online, anytime for classroom, distance learning, and eArmyU online college courses.  It is a one-stop location for managing the soldier’s college education and using Tuition Assistance benefits.  For Non LOI schools, a soldier will be able to obtain Tuition Assistance for their classes with a TA Request form completed through GoArmyEd.

 
MyCAA

Military Spouse Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) provides financial assistance for military spouses.  On October 25, 2010 all spouses, including those currently participating will be subject to the new eligibility criteria and revised funding.  The limits include:

  • Be the spouse of an active duty Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine service member, or activated Reserve member in pay grades E1-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O2. 
  • If National Guard and/or AGR, sponsor must be on federal Title 10 active duty orders as reported in DEERS. 
  • Spouses of Guard/Reserve members in an Alert, Transition Assistance, or Post Deployment status are not eligible. 
  • MyCAA accounts will be limited to the new $4,000 maximum benefit with a $2000 fiscal year cap. Waivers will be available for spouses pursuing licensure or certification up to the total maximum assistance of $4,000. 
  • Spouses must finish their program of study within three years from the start date of the first course. 
  • Funding is limited to only Associate’s degrees, certifications and licensure programs.

Navy College Program Distance Learning Partnership

Navy College Program Distance Learning Partnership (NCPDLP) provided associate and bachelor degree programs applicable to each rating, and make maximum use of military professional training and experience to accomplish degree requirements.  The program also provides opportunities to take courses through distance learning so that Sailors anywhere will be able to pursue a degree. The goal of the NCPDLP Schools is to support both the Sailor's mobile lifestyle and educational goals with rating relevant degree programs.

Servicemembers Opportunities Colleges (SOC)

A SOC is an agreement between the university and the servicemember that will protect your credits and degree program as you transfer from duty station to duty station.  It also offers a way to select courses from many colleges within the SOC Network for guaranteed transferability to your degree plan.  Military students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree are eligible for a SOC agreement.  Graduate students and students pursuing only a certificate are not eligible for a SOC agreement.

  • Easily accepts transfers credit from other SOC members
  • Awards credit for military service schools and occupational experience 
  • Issues student agreements that serve as a degree plan

Troops to Teachers

Brandman University is actively involved with Troops to Teachers, a U.S. Department of Education and Department of Defense program that helps eligible military personnel begin a new career as teachers in public schools where their skills, knowledge and experience are most needed.

 
Yellow Ribbon

The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program) is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, also known as the Post-9/11 GI Bill or Chapter 33.  The Yellow Ribbon Program allows institutions of higher learning to enter into a voluntary agreement with the Department of Veterans Affairs to contribute funds to a veteran’s unmet tuition and fee charges when their tuition and fees charges exceed the amount payable under Chapter 33.  The program allows institutions to contribute an amount up to 50 percent of a veteran’s unmet costs; the Department of Veterans Affairs will match the amount.
