What’s on your desk? Alan Cranis
A brightly-colored Justice League poster hangs on Cranis' cubical in Irvine, California. Figurines of Iron Man and D.C. Comic’s Green Lantern sit next to his phone that he uses to connect with online students, students he has been serving since the inception of Brandman’s Online campus.
“Comics are a passion I share with my son. It’s a fun way for us to bond.” Cranis’ son, Sam, is currently attending Chapman University in Orange. Cranis chatted about the various comics he enjoyed and how his son has been reading graphic novels since he was a young child. His son’s favorite comic? Deadpool.
Cranis enjoys Hellboy for its interesting mystery-based storylines. The advisor for nearly a decade said he appreciates a good comic movie and is looking forward to the release of “Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War” later this April while his son is waiting on pins and needles for the release of “Deadpool 2” in mid-May.
The proud father explained that he also displays concert posters on his wall as a reminder of his son’s love for music. Photos of Motorhead and Otis Redding give his cubical a pop of color and hip vibe. “I use my workspace as a place to remind myself of what’s important to me, my family. And it makes for a good conversation piece with students and coworkers.”
