Brandman student featured speaker at JBLM Hispanic Heritage celebration
Chief Warrant Officer 3 Larry S. Delgado, a I Corps human resource operations technician and Brandman University undergraduate pursuing a degree in organizational leadership, will speak at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8.at Carey Theater on Lewis Main at Joint Base Lewis-McChord Field (JBLM). Delgado is a first generation American of Nicaraguan descent.
Hispanic Heritage Month began Sept. 15 and continues through Oct. 15. According to the authorized website of the JBLM, “Hearing from (Delgado and other Hispanics) will help in better understanding Hispanic heritage,” said Sgt. 1st Class Nicolas Godoy, equal opportunity adviser for the 62nd Medical Brigade, which organized the event. “It’s important to educate our Soldiers, Airmen and others who attend (the event) and to embrace diversity because it strengthens us as a society.”
Delgado is a native of Homestead, Fla. In Nov. 1993, he enlisted in the Army and served as a personnel administration specialist at locations from Augsburg, Germany, to Fort Bragg, N.C.; Fort Carson, Colo.; and JBLM. He also served one tour in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, in Afghanistan, and three tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
