Brandman University mourns the loss of education student Jamie Greene

August 15, 2017

The Brandman University community is mourning the shocking loss of one of our Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership students. According to the Orange Police Department, Jamie Greene was killed last night in her home.

Greene was an Irvine Epsilon student, and most recently worked as a high school teacher focusing on at-risk students when she joined Brandman’s Ed.D. program. She had just wrapped up her first year in the program at the time of her death. Cheryl-Marie Osborne-Hansberger, an Ontario cohort mentor, had been a friend of Greene’s for more than a decade and recruited her to Brandman.

“Jamie was a passionate educator and leader who dedicated her entire career to serving at-risk kids. She believed that every kid deserves a second chance and she went to extraordinary lengths to provide academic, social, and emotional support to her students,” said Osborne-Hansberger.

“Jamie was a bright light in our program, and we were lucky to watch her grow as a transformational leader to improve our society this past year. Her tragic death is not only crushing to our Brandman family, but to the larger community as well,” said Dr. Christine Zeppos, dean of Brandman University’s School of Education.

The Brandman community extends their sympathies to the family, friends and students of Jamie Greene.
