Military learners thrive at Brandman
When Mark Miller started teaching for Brandman he noticed that students who shared his military background focused on succeeding in his classes. Robin Horen is one of Miller’s students at Brandman’s Joint Base Lewis-McChord campus and shares the commitment that Miller sees in many of his students. After his retirement from the military, Horen recognized the need to supplement his military experience with a degree in order to make the transition to a civilian law enforcement role.
Horen is committed to earning his bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and cites the need for management skills as the main reason for choosing the program. He already credits the lessons he’s learned with helping him deal with people and situations he encounters in civilian law enforcement. As Horen continues his education and plans ahead for earning his master’s degree, he’ll be able to rely on the lessons passed down from the faculty and staff at Brandman, many of whom have been through the same transition from military service.
