Washington alumni reconnect at Alumni Association event
Brandman University Alumni Association held its first event in the Seattle-Tacoma area thanks to the efforts of Katrina Simmons. The 2016 MBA graduate, who previously earned a bachelor’s in organizational leadership from the Lacey campus, offered to host the event and worked with Shannon Feightner manager of Alumni Relations.
More than 45 alumni living in the state of Washington responded to the event, which was held at Moctezumas Mexican Restaurant in Tacoma. Also on hand were Margo Myers, who provides both written and video stories about people at the Washington campuses for Brandman News; Michael Brouillette, senior academic advisor at the Lacey campus; Emory Lunsford, senior manager of Community and Corporate Relations; and members of the One Stop staff, Kailani Quichocho from Lacey, Padao Wheeler from Fort Lewis and Sarah Crisolo from McChord Field.
Feightner said the event is just the sort of social activity she hopes other alumni will help organize in their areas. The Alumni Association helped coordinate the event, provided a gift card raffle prize and made hats and license plate holders available to everyone attending. The free event included hosted appetizers and a complimentary drink ticket.
For Simmons, the goal was to connect with other people in the Seattle-Tacoma area with similar ties to Brandman and she said afterward that was exactly what she was able to do.
Feightner said alumni interested in help with similar events should contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org with their ideas. The Alumni Association reviews the plans before co-sponsoring.
