FAIRFIELD, Calif. (April 10, 2012) – Working together in close partnership since 2009, Solano Community College (SCC) and Brandman University’s Early Advantage Educational Partnership ensures that SCC students who participate in the program are guaranteed acceptance to Brandman University upon completion of their associate’s degree. Brandman, a part of the Chapman University System, is a high-quality, non-profit, affordable private educational option that offers SCC students transferable coursework in the following programs: Applied Studies, Business, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Legal Studies, Liberal Studies/Multiple Subjects Teaching, Organizational Leadership, Psychology, Social Science, and Sociology. Many students have benefitted from the arrangement which allows them to continue on their college path without interruption, complete their degree in less time, stay local, and even work full-time while attending school.
To celebrate their three year partnership, Brandman will be hosting an event at SCC for students, faculty and staff on April 24, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the Café in the Student Center Building #1400 at the SCC Fairfield campus. Lunch will be hosted on the patio outside the café. Lunch is free, but tickets are limited and should be obtained early. Guests can pick up a ticket at the Brandman University table at SCC-Vacaville on April 16; SCC-Vallejo on April 17; and SCC-Fairfield from April 18-24. Dignitaries from both Brandman University and Solano Community College will be in attendance. Attendees can learn more about transfer options and the programs Brandman offers.
Chancellor Gary Brahm of Brandman University said, “These types of partnerships between community colleges and Brandman University will continue to play an important role in students pursuing a higher education especially at a time when the economic crisis is forcing the California State University and University of California systems to limit enrollments.”
Due to California’s budget crunch, SCC has announced that they will no longer be offering a summer session. Brandman offers a full schedule of classes in the summer that SCC students can choose from. Any SCC student that enters into a Bachelor’s degree program will have access to enhanced cooperative academic and student services including advising services, information sessions, technology support and educational plans. The agreement also allows students access to Web Advisor and Brandman University academic advisors while still attending community college and taking transferable coursework. Brandman University waives all application and transfer fees for students in the program.
