New location will provide the University with the flexibility to continually adapt to the future needs of working students
ORANGE, Calif. (February 23, 2009) − Chapman University College announced that it has purchased a building in the Irvine Spectrum. Located at 16355 Laguna Canyon Road in Irvine, the facility will serve as the new administrative headquarters for theUniversity and its 24 campuses throughout California and the state of Washington, and will also serve as the new Irvine Campus.
“Chapman University College’s acquisition of this building represents the University’s commitment to expanding our services to meet the continually evolving higher education needs of working students,” said Gary Brahm, Chancellor of Chapman University College. “The new space will provide Chapman University College with the continued flexibility to offer our students new programs that will enable them to reach their educational goals whether it’s to improve their current skill set, change careers or learn a degree.”
Chapman University College plans to occupy the new building this summer after making improvements including new administrative offices, state of the art classrooms and labs and video conferencing capabilities.
The 115,000 square foot, three-story building was built in 1998 and is located less than two miles from the current Irvine campus near Interstate 5, Interstate 405 and Interstate 133, as well as bus and rail transportation.
The transaction, which was handled by Chapman University Alumnus Alex Hayden, Rick Sherburne, and Travis Boyd of Cushman & Wakefield, closed on Tuesday, February 17. Cushman & Wakefield’s Jeffrey Cole, Ed Hernandez, Greg Brown, and David Dowd represented Prudential Real Estate Investors, which sold the property on behalf of institutional investors.
Chapman University College currently serves more than 650 students at its Irvine campus offering 11 undergraduate programs, four master's degree programs, two credential programs and seven graduate certificates.
