Immersion Sessions

Immersion sessions are incorporated into our SNaHP programs because they are an essential part of the educational experience and part of what makes our programs different! Attendance at all immersion sessions for a program is required for successful completion.  Immersion sessions are 2-4 days in length and are held at the Brandman University Irvine Campus.

During immersion sessions, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet face-to-face to learn advanced information technology skills
  • Engage in communication and teamwork exercises
  • Practice clinical skills in a state-of-the-art Immersive Learning and Simulation Center using standardized patients, computer-managed manikins and three-dimensional virtual reality environments
  • Work directly with their mentors and academic advisors

We reserve a block of rooms at the Ayres hotel, Holiday Inn, Candlewood and Double Tree. Students are responsible to contact the hotel of their choice to make personal reservations for immersion. At these hotels (with the exception of Candlewood), complimentary transportation will be arranged to and from the hotel and Brandman University. Transportation to and from the airport is also complimentary, but will need to be arranged personally with the hotel in order to confirm arrival and departure times. (Depending on availability)

How many days is an immersion session?
Immersion sessions are 2-4 days in length

Will I need to take time off from work for immersion?
Yes, immersion sessions are intensive and will require your focus and attention through the entire time.

Where are the immersion sessions held?
Immersion sessions are held at the Brandman University Irvine Campus

What is a typical day of immersion like?
A day of immersion is a full day of activity.  Days run from approximately 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and most of the time is spent in group presentations from faculty and other educational specialists, small group sessions, lab sessions, and time to meet with academic advisors and mentors.  There is also time for networking and some fun! A day of immersion is similar to a day at a professional conference.

Where do we stay?
The School of Nursing and Health Professions will provide a list of nearby hotels where students can stay. Most hotels have a shuttle service that provides transportation to and from campus and the airport.  Some students choose to rent a car for their stay but most do not. If you have an hour or more driving commute to and from the campus we strongly recommend that you stay at a hotel in order to maximize your experience.  Additional travel and lodging information are sent upon admission.

Are meals included?
We offer morning refreshments (coffee, tea, water) and lunch.  Many of our suggested hotels provide a continental breakfast.  Other meals and snacks are not included. Since the days can be quite long, you are welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages.

Who pays for immersion travel expenses?
Students are responsible for paying for their travel to and from immersion.  Travel costs can be included in your financial aid package.

Why do some programs have multiple immersion sessions?
Some programs have multiple immersion sessions because their courses require clinical and simulated training sessions in a face-to-face learning environment.  Some programs also require work on a final project with their mentor which happens on campus.  Students in the clinical programs will have the opportunity to use the new, state of the art, simulation center on campus!
