Prior to coming to Brandman University, Dr. Smith mentored undergraduate and graduate students at South University, Tampa Campus.

His clinical and educational experiences have primarily been a blend of psychiatric-mental health and geriatrics. Dr. Smith has an independent practice in long-term care facilities and a local community clinic. He has served on local, state and national association boards. Dr. Smith has over 25 publications in clinical, education and research journals. He is interested is using technology and innovative pedagogies, best-practices in education, the millennium learner, and evidence-based geriatric practices.
