Chapman University College and Riverside City College Sign Early Advantage Transfer Agreement

Riverside, Calif. and Orange, Calif. − March 24, 2009 − Chapman University College Chancellor Gary Brahm and Riverside City College (RCC) President Dr. Jan Muto signed an Early Advantage Partnership (EAP) today between the two educational institutions which will enhance higher education opportunities for students enrolled at the community college.

Students who participate in the EAP program will have access to Chapman University College’s advising services, locking in their catalog year, program evaluation, transfer credit through the use of Web Advisor and personalized advising while still
attending the community college and taking transferable coursework.

“Chapman University College establishes Early Advantage Partnerships with community colleges like Riverside City College to provide students with a clear path to pursuing their higher education by giving them direct support and counseling,” said Brahm.
“It’s reassuring for these students to know that the time they are investing in their coursework will be transferable to Chapman University College and that our counselors will guide them throughout the entire process.”

Riverside City College students will be able to enroll in the EAP program beginning in March and take transferable coursework towards degrees in computer information systems, criminal justice, liberal studies/multiple subjects teaching, organizational
leadership, psychology and social science.

"The partnership with Chapman University Center creates additional pathways for RCC students to transfer and provides support services central to student success," RCC President Jan Muto said. "I am excited about the Early Advantage Program because it brings an outstanding community college and a nationally known university together. The winners will be our students who will continue to receive a first-rate education after leaving RCC."

Community college students are eligible to apply for the program after they have completed 12 transferable credits at RCC with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 from all schools previously attended. RCC transfers must attend at least one academic term/semester at RCC and adhere to all Chapman University College admission requirements.

“Chapman University College is pleased to be working with Riverside City College to help expand educational opportunities for students in Riverside and the surrounding community,” said Ronald Patterson, Moreno Valley campus director. “In addition to the
undergraduate degree program offerings, we are also providing speakers and lecturers to workshops for students at RCC.”

Chapman University College will shortly be signing an EAP agreement with Mt. San Jacinto College, which serves 15,000 students in the Inland Empire, and similar agreements are in development with other Riverside Community College District institutions including Moreno Valley and NORCO campuses, which serve 7,000 and 8,500 students respectively.

Chapman University College currently serves students in the Inland Empire at campuses in Moreno Valley, Coachella Valley, Ontario, and Victor Valley.
