Cosumnes River College Signs EAP Agreement

Chapman University College and Cosumnes River College Sign Early Advantage Partnership Agreement

Sacramento, Calif. − April 14, 2009 − Chapman University College Chancellor Gary Brahm and Cosumnes River College (CRC) Vice President of Instruction and Student Learning Whitney Yamamura signed an Early Advantage Partnership (EAP) today
between the two educational institutions which will offer enhanced cooperative academic and student services for students at the community college.

The EAP will provide students at CRC with access to Chapman University College’s advising services, locking in their catalog year, program evaluation, transfer credit through the use of Web Advisor and personalized advising while still attending CRC.

“Chapman University College establishes these types of agreements with colleges like Cosumnes River College to provide students with a clear path to pursuing their higher education by giving them direct support and counseling,” said Brahm. “It’s reassuring for these students to know that the time they are investing in their coursework will be transferable to Chapman University College and that our counselors will guide them throughout the entire process.”

Transferable coursework at Cosumnes River College will be offered in the following programs: Computer Information Systems, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Liberal Studies-Multiple Subject Teaching, Organizational Leadership, Psychology and
Social Science.

“We are excited that Chapman University College has chosen CRC to provide another option for our students to pursue a bachelor’s degree,” Yamamura said. “I believe this Early Advantage Partnership will make the transition smoother for those students transferring to Chapman University College.”

Community college students are eligible to apply for the program after the official transfer agreement is in effect between Cosumnes River College and Chapman University College in Spring 2009, and after they have completed 12 transferable credits at the Cosumnes River College with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 from all schools previously attended. Community college students must attend at least one academic term/semester at Cosumnes River College. Transcripts from all previous colleges attended must be submitted with the application to verify GPA eligibility.

“Chapman University College is pleased to be working with Cosumnes River College to help expand educational opportunities for students in Sacramento and the surrounding community,” said Patricia Hammer, Chapman University College Regional Director, Northern Campuses which serve students in the Sacramento Valley through campuses in Roseville, Folsom and Yuba City.
