This course will use an instructor-led hands-on approach and will discuss, demonstrate and explore fusion vs mechanical splicing, mass fusion splicing, cleaving, splice trays and closures, cable/fiber handling, and various splicing related troubleshooting. Using OTDR splice traces, the student will achieve a splice loss of less than 0.15 dB and will learn to adequately interpret the reading form the OTDR.
The Fiber Optics Specialist courses are the highest level fiber optic training offered by Brandman University, and is taught only by our most senior instructor. The series requires prior course work and/or experience. Recommended prerequisite courses:
This course was designed for contractors, union craftsman, electricians, technicians, installers, splicers, LAN managers/administrators, end-users, engineers, MIS managers, facilities managers, architects and developers, systems engineers, telecom managers and anyone involved in repairing, installing, maintaining, designing, evaluating, or provisioning Cable, Fiber Optic Cables and Optical Networks. This course is 16 hours and equivalent to 1.6 CEUs.
