This course will consist of highly practical instructor-led, hands-on labs. This course will discuss, demonstrate and explore all test equipment, methods and standards and provide training in both insertion loss testing and optical time domain reflectometry; include testing of both single mode and multimode fibers; Instructor verification of achievement of advanced skills in testing.

The Fiber Optics Specialist series is the highest level fiber optic training offered by Brandman University, and is taught only by our most senior instructor. This course requires prior course work and/or experience. Recommended prerequisite courses:

  • CSCU 0093: Fiber Optics Inside Plant (or equivalent)
  • CSCU 0094: Fiber Optics Outside Plant (or equivalent)
  • It is recommended that the student have completed an ETA FOI or a FOA CFOT within two years of taking this course.

This course was designed for contractors, union craftsman, electricians, technicians, installers, splicers, LAN managers/administrators, end-users, engineers, MIS managers, facilities managers, architects and developers, systems engineers, telecom managers and anyone involved in repairing, installing, maintaining, designing, evaluating, or provisioning Cable, Fiber Optic Cables and Optical Networks. This course is 16 hours and equivalent to 1.6 CEUs.
