Students will learn the basics of cable construction and installation of various copper cable types including Cat 5, Cat 6, and Cat 6e through lectures and a hands-on lab. In addition, closely-related technologies of fiber optics and wireless will be discussed. This course will help prepare the student to pass the ETA Data Cabling Installer Certification (DCIC) or the FOA Certified Premises Cabling Technician.

This course was designed for contractors, union craftsman, electricians, technicians, installers, LAN managers/administrators, end-users, engineers, MIS managers, facilities managers, architects and developers, systems engineers, telecom managers and anyone involved in repairing, installing, maintaining, designing, evaluating, or provisioning premises cabling. This course is 16 hours and equivalent to 1.6 CEUs.
