Post Doctoral Certificate, Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Attaining a post doctoral certificate can expand a nurse's professional practice, increase job opportunities, and meet the requirements to become nationally certified in a selected specialty area. The Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Post Doctoral Certificate explores subjects such as embryology, management in acute care, and complex problems facing the industry.

A Brandman Doctoral Certificate is designed for nurse practitioners who have a PhD or DNP and wish to add a specialty in one of our six nurse practitioner specialty areas. In addition to Pediatric Acute Care the school also offers the following post doctoral certificates:

Students in the Certificate program are required to attend 3 immersion sessions.

Students enrolled in a certificate program only are not eligible for financial aid.  Courses taken after completion of a degree program in order to complete the certificate are not eligible for financial aid.

Admission Requirements:

  1. PhD or DNP degree from a regionally accredited Institution.
  2. Official transcripts from all institutions where post-baccalaureate coursework was completed or attempted (where you were granted your Master and Doctoral degree).
  3. National certification as a nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist (or eligible to take the National Certification exam).
  4. Current and detailed resume or curriculum vita.
  5. Unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license (may have a temporary license), in the State where you plan to do your supervised clinical hours.
  6. Unencumbered  Advanced  Practice  Registered  Nurse  license  is  required  from  your  current specialty. This is not needed for the CNS adding the Nurse Practitioner specialty.

 

Required before attending orientation immersion (by completing CertifiedBackground.com):

  1. Proof of a negative TB Skin Test current at the start of classes.
  2. Proof of completion of Hepatitis A and B immunization or titer.
  3. Proof of two doses of MMR or titer.
  4. Proof of Tetanus/Diphtheria immunization within the past 5 years.
  5. Proof of Chicken Pox (Varicella) immunization or titer.
  6. Background clearance.
  7. Copy of CPR Level “C” Certification (Health Care Provider) that will not be expiring in the next 12 months.
  8. Proof of current negative drug screen.
  9. Proof of annual Influenza immunization.
  10. Additional laboratory tests, immunizations, and/or documentation may be required for clinical experiences.
  11. Professional Liability Insurance (1mil/3mil).
