Writing for Healthcare Professionals

Writing is no stranger to therapy. Now, new research suggests expressive writing may also offer physical benefits to people battling terminal or life-threatening diseases. Studies by those in the forefront of this research suggest that writing about emotions and stress can boost immune functioning in patients with such illnesses as HIV/AIDS, asthma and arthritis.

In this dynamic, experiential and reflective writing-based course, students explore the history, use, and benefits of expressive writing. Healthcare workers and patient care providers learn techniques to assist patients and clients in reducing stress through written self-exploration exercises.
