Biography

Dr. Aleshire is an Assistant Professor of Psychology with Brandman University’s MA Psychology program. Dr. Aleshire is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, San Francisco Bay. Dr. Aleshire’s clinical range has given her the knowledge and practical experience necessary to work with early-career professionals in Brandman’s MFT program. Dr. Aleshire has gained a breadth of experience in Family Theories and Interventions, Psychopathology and Diagnostics, Assessment, and Marital, Individual, and Group Theories and Interventions. She has worked in a variety of settings with a diversity of cases. At The Family Institute of Pinole (Pinole, CA) she served clients from socioeconomically disadvantaged communities and ethnically diverse backgrounds who were often multi-stressed and had often suffered multiple traumas. Her training at California Men’s Colony (San Luis Obispo, CA) offered me an in-depth experiential education in moderate-severe psychopathology, criminality, differential diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical assessment. At ADMHS- Santa Barbara County (Santa Maria, CA) Dr. Aleshire implement a variety of assessment strategies to conduct parental fitness and psychological evaluations to formulate and complete court-ordered dispositional recommendations. She is currently in private practice which has allowed her to extend her experience to the community-based health care setting; including the interface of psychology with managed care in terms of consultation, program development, and mental health service delivery.  Altogether, Dr. Aleshire offers a range of experiences which uniquely prepare her to contribute to Brandman University’s educational milieu.
