Jessica McCallister completed her master theses with Walla Walla University in 2010 titled Autism Related Services and Supports in Umatilla County, Oregon. Her award-winning master theses was designed as a needs assessment of community supports and services across her county. Jessica served as the Autism Society of Oregon’s representative in 2008-2010 and continues to attend local events geared towards supporting and empowering families of special needs children. She has experience conducting participatory action research, qualitative research, quantitative research and has conducted formative, summative, and developmental evaluations. She has also contributed to grant writing projects. Jessica has served on a local housing collaborative in Eastern Oregon aimed at improving access to housing resources to homelessness in rural communities. Also, Jessica enjoys conducting books reviews for journals such as the New Social Worker and the Families in Society Journal and has recently started peer-reviewing articles for publication for a university press in Indiana.
Jessica McCallister has professional experience as a service provider for the Oregon Department of Human Services Child Welfare program. She conducted clinical assessments, provided in-home therapeutic counseling, conducted crisis outreach, and prepared court documentation and participated in court testimony on behalf of the Department. Additionally, Jessica has been formally trained by Conscious Discipline in trauma-informed parenting practices, has extensive knowledge of child welfare state and federal policy and has also contributed to the development of state procurement services contracts.
