Rachel Winston Ph.D.



Rachel Winston is the Director of Mathematics in Brandman’s School of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Winston designs, implements, and facilitates all MATU courses at Brandman working with 37 faculty members. As a campus leader, she has been the Vice Chair of the Governance and Appeals Committee and has worked on college wide programs including Ameritas, Competency Based Education, and grant projects.


Dr. Winston is a Pearson Faculty Advocate, Drucker Fellow, and Statistical Analyst. She won the Bletchley Park Cryptanalysis Award, McFarland Literary Achievement Award, Faculty Member of the Year at Cerro Coso College(CCC), Outstanding Speaker Award for successive Business Issues Conferences, and various National Science Foundation grants. On the national, state, and local levels, she served as the Regional Coordinator for the Mathematical Association of America, Board of Governors for the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges, Academic Senate President at CCC, Board of Directors of Leadership Tomorrow, President of the Newport Chamber’s Business Development Division, and the Chairman of the Education Committee for the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce.


Dr. Winston holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in Higher Education Leadership with concentrations in business and communications and master’s degrees from George Washington University, Claremont Graduate University, Pepperdine University, and Cal State Fullerton in Mathematics, Computer Technology, Business Administration, and Publishing. She holds certificates in Interpreting for the Deaf from Gallaudet University and College Counseling from UCLA.  She has more than two dozen published articles as well as books in both mathematics and international education.
