Biography

Dr. Sam Bresler has more than 40 years of experience as a practitioner, leader and educator in human resource management. After a 20+ year career of increasingly responsible HR roles, he joined SAIC in 1997 as vice president for Human Resources for the Company’s Western Region, later serving as the company’s chief learning officer. He also joined Chapman/Brandman University as a member of the adjunct faculty in 1998.
In August, 2011, Sam became a member of the full-time faculty of Brandman University’s School of Business and Professional Studies (SBPS) and was appointed as associate dean within the school in August 2012. In October, 2012, he was appointed to lead the University’s Human Resources, Learning and Development function as assistant vice chancellor and later as associate vice chancellor. In September, 2017, he was appointed as special assistant to the provost and professor of human resources and business administration.
Sam obtained his Ph.D. in education from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as an MBA in management, with a specialization in personnel administration, from the University’s Wharton Graduate Division. In 2015, he acquired his SHRM-SCP certification and, since 1996, has been a life-certified senior professional in human resources (SPHR). Long active in volunteer service to the HR profession, Sam was a member of the National Board of Directors for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Foundation from 1999-2004, serving as president of the foundation board in 2002. He is now a member of SHRM Foundation’s Leadership Circle and continues to serve as a member of a National Item Writing Panel for the Human Resource Certification Institute’s (HRCI) PHR and SPHR certification examinations.
