Biography
Dr. Yockelson’s training and experience focuses on pre-professional and in-service training and consultation that focuses on creating early childhood systems that implement NAEYC developmentally Appropriate Practices and the Council on Exceptional Child’s Division of Early Childhood recommended practices. Among her research interests are systems for early identification, referral and intervention for young children who are at risk for or who have disabilities, the promotion of social and emotional competence in early childhood (e.g., early childhood mental health), and including all young children in the natural environment. Dr. Yockelson has consulted with a wide range of programs who serve young children and their families such as early childhood education providers, social service agencies, early childhood mental health agencies, and social service agencies, and health care providers. She has provided consultation and training with individual agencies such as Head Start grantees, statewide initiatives in the United States and provincial programs in Canada.
