Program Overview

This class teaches students the knowledge and skills required to successfully (1) Plan and perform regular maintenance on complex Enterprise routed and switched networks and (2) Use technology-based practices and a systematic ITIL-compliant approach to perform network troubleshooting.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:


  • Discuss the Importance of Proactive vs. Reactive Maintenance Task Resolutions

  • Develop a Plan to Monitor and Manage a Network

  • Describe the Benefits of having a Structured Troubleshooting Model

  • Identify Common Maintenance Procedures and Troubleshooting Methods

  • Perform Network Monitoring using IOS Tools

  • Perform Routine IOS Device Maintenance

  • Isolate Sub-optimal Internetwork Operation at the correctly defined OSI Model layer

  • Troubleshoot EIGRP, OSPF, eBGP, and Routing Redistribution Solution

  • Troubleshoot a DHCP Client and Server Solution, NAT, and First-Hop Redundancy Protocols

  • Explain Strategies for Troubleshooting IPv6 and IPv4 Interoperability, and IPv6 Routing

  • Describe the Process of Troubleshooting a Switch-to-Switch Connectivity, Loop Prevention, and Access Ports for a VLAN-based Solution

  • Describe InterVLAN Routing Issues, Router Redundancy Troubleshooting, and Catalyst Switch Performance Tuning

  • Troubleshoot Private VLANS, Port Security, General Switch Security, VACL and PACL

  • Troubleshoot Switch Support of Advanced Services, Supervisor Redundancy, and SVIs

  • Discuss VoIP & Video Support Solution Troubleshooting, and Unified Communications

  • Troubleshoot Layer 3 Security, and Issues Related to ACLs used to Secure Access to Routers

  • Troubleshoot Configuration and Security issues related to AAA servers and IOS Services

  • Discuss and Identify a Collection of Technologies that focuses on Remote Office & Complex Enterprise Network Troubleshooting
