Continuing Education Units

What Are CEUs?

A Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is a unit of measure for non-credit bearing courses. CEUs do not count toward a degree program – but are often applicable toward certifications for licensed professionals.

Brandman University’s School of Nursing and Health Professions, in conjunction with the department of Extended Education, provides Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for the following courses:

NURU 420 - Transcendental Meditation (2 credits)

This course will cover the nature of the practice of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique, scientific research, and its applications to individual life, health and society. Personal instruction in the Transcendental Meditation technique will be included in this course. The laboratory component of this course will include twice daily practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique and three months of follow-up meetings and lectures. This two-credit course is open to all majors. Pass/no-pass.

NURU 421 - Good Health Through Prevention (3 credits)

This course provides an introduction and overview to all the prevention principles and therapeutics of Maharishi Vedic Medicine (MVM). Course content provides the student with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practice of Ayurveda®, a traditional medicine with 6,000 years of continuous clinical application. Students will be introduced to the Ayurvedic™ language and theoretical framework of this body of knowledge, including application to prevention and therapeutic modalities for enhanced health and prevention of disease. This three-credit course is open to all majors.

These non-credit bearing courses are delivered through Extended Education and may begin prior to being admitted to Brandman University.
