Dr. Ruth Milstein is a psychiatric NP that has a varied clinical practice dealing with the severely mentally ill, addictions, women’s issues as well as anxiety, depression, bipolar and dissociative identity disorders through her personally owned NP practice, several addiction programs, as well as community based settings. She received her RN from Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York, her BS in Health Science from Brooklyn College, BSN at Wagner College, her MEd in counseling at Florida Atlantic University where she studied mental health counseling, her MSN/NP at University of South Alabama and her DNP from University of South Alabama with certification in Nursing Education. After teaching part time at the University of South Alabama, University of Alabama in Birmingham and Nova University she joined Brandman’s full time faculty as an Assistant Professor in the psychiatric mental health program DNP program.  Dr. Milstein is the current Chairman of the Content Expert Panel for the Psychiatric Mental Health certification exam at the American Nurse’s Credentialing Center. She is active in organizations for Psychiatric Nursing.  She is looking forward to expanding the Psychiatric Mental Health program and mentoring doctoral students while continuing a clinical practice.  The online program format allows her to remain in Florida where her practice is and traveling to visit her children and grandchildren. As a PMHNP her focus is on integrative care, providing unconditional positive regard, technology in advancing care, as well as passing on her passion of her patients to the next generation of PMHNP’s.
