Bio

Sharon Floyd joined Brandman University as an Assistant Professor of Human Resources in the School of Business and Professional Studies in the fall of 2014. Prior to accepting her full-time position, Sharon contributed as an adjunct faculty member for Brandman University, facilitating courses in Human Resources and Organizational Leadership. Sharon completed her Master’s Degree in Human Resources Development with Webster University in 2011, and is expected to complete her Doctorate of Organizational Leadership with Brandman University by December 2014. Her research focuses on the identification of employee engagement practices viewed as critical to retention from a cross-generational perspective.

Prior to her employment as a full-time faculty member, Sharon worked for a privately-held, aerospace and defense organization as a Human Resources and Organization Development business partner. Prior to her work in aerospace and defense, she worked in the financial services industry as Learning and Development Manager for a San Diego-based Credit Union. Sharon is an accomplished practitioner with over 20 years of experience demonstrating effective collaboration with key stakeholders, executive HR management, and HR business partners. She has contributed to a variety of corporate initiatives and has provided targeted solutions to achieve company-wide business objectives. Sharon also serves on Brandman University’s Human Resources Advisory Board. In her free time she enjoys hiking, cycling, reading, and experiencing all that the San Diego area has to offer.

Sharon also designed and developed the HR-related company policy curriculum for new leaders, and implemented an enterprise-wide Learning Management System (LMS). She also facilitated leadership, team-building and effective communication workshops.
