Staff members learn to save lives

June 26, 2017 by Cindy O'Dell

Nobody likes to imagine a colleague collapsing in a hallway or choking in the cafeteria. Thanks to an American Red Cross training session, if that does happen at the Irvine campus, people from a variety of departments are ready to jump in and offer first aid.

Red Cross instructors Jamie Davis and Shauna Thomure trained staff members from human resources, communications, Extended Education, Finance, Student Accounts and the Center for Instructional Innovation (CII), equipping them to perform CPR, operate an AED and offer aid to someone choking or bleeding.

The next wellness event is on Friday, July 21, when an American Red Cross blood drive comes to the Irvine campus. To sign up to donate blood, go to redcrossblood.org and use the sponsor code: brandman.

Megan Stacy Cornelius, Darcie Cotton and Sabrina Dean await instruction.
