Brandman employees turn in e-waste, learn to plant succulents
Brandman University’s Wellness Committee combined Cinco de Mayo treats with a workshop on water-wise plants and e-waste drop off on Friday.
While old laptops, X-boxes, cell phones and bundles of electronic cable made their way into the e-waste box, Irvine-based Brandman staffers learned just how easy it is to create miniature gardens of succulents from award-winning landscape designer Linda Bresler.
The program combined April’s theme emphasizing “going green” with May’s wellness theme of reducing stress, said Michael Ngo, a member of the committee.
“I love plants. They’re my passion,” Besler told the group. She said she loses track of time and forgets any worries she has while pulling weeds and planting new plants. Water-wise succulents are particularly good for small planters and work well on desks, she said. Just adding plants of different colors and shapes creates a miniature garden that lets individuals tap into their creativity.
