Students from both Brandman University’s Modesto campus and Merced College, a community college in Merced, California, got together recently to experience play from a child’s perspective. Early childhood education (ECE) faculty member Julianne Zvalo-Martyn led the 24 students through a   “Play to Practice” workshop to help students understand the vital role that play has in learning and development.

“Attendees shared their insight and strategies about the barriers they experience and how to remove or mitigate boundaries around directed play,” said Zvalo-Martyn.
