Monterey campus named a top test center for CLEP
Most of the students who take CLEP tests at the Monterey campus are soldiers stationed at the Presidio of Monterey, many of whom are completing their degrees at the Defense Language Institute (DLI). The campus also supports local students seeking to complete some of their general education and elective credits through CLEP exams.
“We are so proud of our ability to support both the local enlisted military and our Brandman students in achieving their degrees while saving them both time and money,” said Pam Holguin, campus director in Monterey. “It’s a great benefit as it reduces the amount of borrowing via student loans and other resources.”
The program benefits the university because it fulfills its mission of helping military students complete their respective degree programs, whether they are attending Brandman or other educational institutions, said Holguin. “It provides a foundation of authenticity that we want to save students time and money through the testing out of credits.”
Some of the most popular tests taken by DLI students, who are likely to be deployed all around the world once they complete their language training, include American government, literature analysis, college mathematics and introduction to educational psychology.
