Psychologists, healthcare leaders introduced to Brandman partnerships
Brandman’s Strategic Initiatives team, also known as “outreach,” had a busy month in October. Dr. Shelly Neal, vice chancellor for Strategic Initiatives, connected with the California Association of School Psychologists (CASP) at their convention in Newport Beach. She is working with Executive Director Heidi Holmblad to build a partnership that includes scholarship, webinars and volunteer opportunities for Brandman psychology students.
Instrumental in helping forge the partnership was Brandman faculty member Pedro Olvera who is the president-elect of CASP. Olvera joined the School of Education faculty in the fall as an associate professor and the chair of the school psychology program.
Neal and Matthew Venegas, assistant vice chancellor of Corporate Relations, also met with members of San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders (SOHL) at their eighth annual conference held in La Jolla, California. In addition to getting a chance to see the latest innovations in healthcare, Venegas and Neal met with organization leadership including Nia Price, Vicki Shumulinsky, Johan Otter, Christine Tran and Carol Cannizzo.
