Brandman makes international statement with conference sponsorship
Assistant Vice Chancellor Loren O’Connor was the conference chair for the Third International Conference on Social Sciences held in Bali, Indonesia, in September. The conference focused on social science and achieving global sustainability and drew researchers, educators and scholars from around the world, according to O’Connor.
“As members of an interconnected society, we all have the responsibility to address important social issues and collaborate on solutions,” said O’Connor. “It is essential to bring together experts from different fields and disciplines to discuss issues and identify future areas of concern.”
Joining O’Connor was Brandman University Disability Services Coordinator Alex Price. Brandman and Moscow State University in Russia were co-sponsors of the conference. Keynote speakers were Michael Redclift, emeritus professor from King’s College University in London; Margrit Eichler, professor emerita from the University of Toronto in Canada; Tim Allen, associate professor, and Dilip Dutta, associate professor, both from the University of Sydney in Australia.
O’Connor also said the conference was an opportunity to introduce people to Brandman’s online programs, which are available internationally.
