Representatives from Brandman University and the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) held a “check-up” meeting last week to see how the first year of their three-year partnership is progressing.

Brandman University’s partnership with ACSA provides scholarship opportunities to both the association’s employees and its more than 17,000 members while giving the university more opportunities to increase awareness of its degree programs and credentialing options. Of particular interest to both parties is Brandman’s Master of Arts in Educational Leadership degree with Preliminary Administrative Services Credential.

“We recognized that ACSA’s mission to advocate for California’s young students and adult learners aligned with Brandman University’s own, making the decision to partner a clear benefit for both organizations,” said Dr. Shelly Neal, vice chancellor of Strategic Initiatives at Brandman University.

“At Brandman, we are justifiably proud of our students, our commitment to innovation and of this latest partnership with ACSA. Together we are able to drive new opportunities for our educational leaders and ultimately the students they serve,” said Brandman University Chancellor Gary Brahm. The chancellor updated the ACSA on the latest preliminary data about Brandman’s high graduation rates and low loan default rates for all students.

The organizations are co-hosting conferences, events, workshops and career fairs. Brandman University played a key part in the  ACSA Leadership Summit in Sacramento and the 2016 Superintendent Symposium in Monterey. Many of Brandman University’s top faculty and leaders are ACSA members and presenters, including Dr. Marilou Ryder, Dr. Doug Devore, and doctoral chair Dr. Keith Larick, who has participated in “Leading the Leader’s” program for more than ten years.

“Brandman is deeply committed to developing 21st-century principals and transformational leaders and it is an honor to be chosen by the ACSA as their key partner to serve their prestigious membership,” said Dr. Christine G. Zeppos, dean of the School of Education.

Looking to the year ahead, the participants talked about developing a Digital Commons to make both the transformational change projects and dissertations of Brandman’s Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) students available to ACSA members. Other projects being considered are a mentoring tool, technology initiatives webinars and job boards.

“There is so much alignment in what we do to support and strengthen the leadership capacity of education.  I am so excited to work build on our partnership with Brandman University,” said Alicia Ausara, Education Services executive for ACSA and a student in Brandman’s Ed.D. program. Also representing ACSA was Tatia Davenport, senior director of Marketing and chief marketing officer.

The goal of both organizations is to continue enabling educational leaders to fulfill their personal and professional goals.
