New crop of students gets friendly welcome
Brandman University campuses throughout California and Washington, as well as online, are ramping up for the start of the Fall 1 session.
Wednesday night brought a large crowd to the Irvine campus for pizza, an introduction to various university systems (Blackboard, My Brandman, Self-Service), tips on starting the school year and even a few prizes.
Irvine campus Director Jan Hartz introduced the campus advisors from both the academic and financial sides of being a student, explained how to access their classes, the Online Writing and Math Community and encouraged the crowd to take full advantage of the supportive staff.
At least one student was following in a parent’s footsteps. Brittany Rackliffe said she knows about Brandman because her mother earned a degree back when the university was called Chapman University College. The recent Chapman University graduate is continuing her education in the M.A. in organizational leadership program.
Fourth-grade teacher Donna Willis learned about it from her fellow Woodbury Elementary School teacher Cassidy Rollins, who knew about Brandman because of her mother. Both Willis and Rollins are enrolled in the Masters in Education program at the Irvine campus.
