Moodian, Gibson, Rosensitto

Margaret Moodian, Ed.D.; William Gibson, Ph.D.; and Michelle Rosensito, Ed.D., attended and contributed to the APA convention in Denver this month.

Margaret Moodian, Michelle Rosensitto and William Gibson participated in the recent American Psychological Association (APA) Convention in Denver, which ended Aug. 7.

Gibson, an associate professor of psychology, led the “Meeting the Needs of LGBT Individuals Across the Lifespan” symposium. It brought together psychologists with various areas of expertise to discuss the challenges and needs of LGBT individuals at different points in their lives.  A longstanding member of the American Psychological Association, Gibson  attends the APA Convention each year and previously served as chair of various committees.

Moodian, a tutorial assistant professor, and Rosensitto, director of Brandman’s Online Writing and Math Community (OWMC), guided conference participants through academic writing exercises that mirrored the kind of support Brandman students get through at the OWMC. Their data-rich talk, “Innovative Strategies for Supporting Academic Writing in Psychology Developed by Brandman’s Online Writing and Math Community (OWMC),”  was aimed at higher education professionals interested in teaching academic writing using an online support platform for adult learners. Moodian and Rosensitto reported three years’ worth of findings comparing the writing progress of students who used the online tutorial program versus those who didn’t. Tutorial students showed a 32 percent improved based on MyAccess! Data. An abstract of their talk can be found here.

“Overall, it was a great convention,” reported Moodian.
